On November 4, 1979 a group of Iranian students invaded the American embassy in Tehran, Iran capturing sixty-six hostages and holding the majority of them for four hundred forty-four days. Throughout this time many diplomatic efforts were made. Though these negotiations failed, the Iran Hostage Crisis ended successfully with the return of all of the American hostages.
